The one who lights the wood stove
Gets up in the dark.

Those are the first two lines of the poem "February" by Charles Simic. I find them crisp, powerful, haunting, and vivid. They have one foot in the literal and one in the figurative, if you let them. Whether these lines are pleasant or beautiful or the good as Kant defines those terms, I'm unsure. I would vote beautiful.
