Catedral de la Sagrada Familia

The "Cathedral of the Sacred Family" in Barcelona is Antoni Gaudí's most famous work because of its detail, its conglomeration of Gothic and modern elements, and because it has yet to be finished. The project, started in 1882, is not projected for completion until 2030. The fact that the piece of architecture has been labored over for more than 100 years and has lived through a civil war suggests a steadfastness on the part of the building itself and a devotion on the part of the people of Spain. This church is a survivor, and I feel that, even under construction, its vastness and persistence are beautiful.
